Each time hosiery is laundered with soap or detergent especially in a washing
machine, nylon fibers deteriorate. Weakened fibers are more susceptible to runs,
snags and sagging.
Vintage stockings purchased from this site need special care and even benefit
from a pre-wash in Hosiery Mate
Before
wearing.
What is Hosiery Mate?
Hosiery Mate is a gentle one-step wash that cleans, conditions, and deodorizes
hose in just 15 seconds. You will love the silkier feel of your cleaner, fresher
hosiery after this treatment. This unique, patented formula also strengthens and
softens delicate fibers to prolong wear life. Additional benefits include
elimination of static cling and preservation of elasticity and color.
How does it work?
Adding Hosiery Mate to water releases an emulsified resin polymer that electro
statically bonds itself to the fibers as a protective coating while allowing the
mild detergent system to lift out soil and perspiration. The soil is then kept
in suspension and removed in the water, rather than redeposit onto the hosiery.
Each pair comes out clean making rinsing totally unnecessary.
Three easy steps to clean and protect
hosiery:
1. Pour a capful of Hosiery Mate into a half basin of warm water
2. Swish gently for 15 seconds
3. Squeeze out excess moisture – No Need To Rinse
We strongly
urge you to use this product to care for your vintage hosiery before wearing,
and new hosiery after wearing. This is a 16 ounce bottle.
